News - Neshama Project

The final meeting was dedicated to Jewish life in Oświęcim. Participants visited the Jewish Museum Oshpitzin, where they took part in the workshop “What was Oshpitzin?”. 

The workshop used the power of objects to help explore Jewish life in Oświęcim before, during, and after the Holocaust. Through the study of artifacts, documents, and material evidence, participants developed a deeper and more comprehensive understanding of the town’s Jewish history. The programme also included a visit to the Jewish Cemetery in Oświęcim.

At the end of the day, participants engaged in a final reflection on the NESHAMA project, discussing their learning experiences and the insights gained throughout the programme.

The Mémorial des Martyrs de la Déportation, involved in the "Neshama" – Ambassadors of Holocaust Memory in Europe project, accompanied the European section class of Joliot Curie high school in Nanterre through an intensive educational and artistic program.

The final online session combined reflection, discussion, and personal testimony to encourage participants to continue their commitment to Holocaust remembrance beyond the NESHAMA project.

The fourth online testimony session on Holocaust remembrance featured Beate Klarsfeld, one of the world’s most renowned Nazi hunters. Alongside her husband, Serge Klarsfeld, she devoted her life to bringing Nazi criminals to justice, preserving the memory of the Holocaust, and fighting antisemitism and historical denial.

The fourth online lecture focused on memory policies in Europe and was delivered by Alban Perrin, historian at the Shoah Memorial in Paris.
