Joliot-Curie (France) : Closing ceremony for the project group – May 20 2026
The Mémorial des Martyrs de la Déportation, involved in the "Neshama" – Ambassadors of Holocaust Memory in Europe project, accompanied the European section class of Joliot Curie high school in Nanterre through an intensive educational and artistic program.
On May 20, 2026, the 23 students presented the result of this work: an original documentary designed to introduce the memorial and bear witness to their role as ambassadors of memory.
Guided by director Jule's Musch, they took part in every stage of creation, writing, filming, and editing, and engaged directly with historical sites and sources.
The program included visits to the Mémorial de la Shoah in Drancy, the former déportation station at Bobigny, the former station at Pithiviers, and CERCIL, Musée-Mémorial du Vel d’Hiv in Orléans, as well as a guided tour of the Marais district focused on Jewish life in Paris.
The students worked with historian Tal Bruttmann on photographic analysis as part of his exhibition "How the Nazis Photographed Their Crimes" and attended a screening of the film The Most Precious of Cargoes, followed by a 90-minute in-depth discussion with Julien Grande, artistic director.
The documentary's presentation on May 20 served as the final showcase of this collective work and the symbolic conclusion of two years of civic and memorial engagement.
