Young Neshama Ambassadors attending Holocaust Remembrance Day commemorations in Brussels
On the occasion of International Holocaust Remembrance Day and as part of the international project NESHAMA, student Eleni Šijaković (1. e) and Professor Margareta Đordić participated in a conference titled "Holocaust Remembrance Conference: Remembering the Past. Shaping the future" organized by the European Commission. The conference was held on January 21, 2025, in Brussels. Alongside distinguished speakers such as Katharina von Schnurbein, Magnus Brunner, Wladyslaw Teofil Bartoszewski, and Raya Kalenova, our student Eleni Šijaković, in flawless English, read the testimony “I Wanted to Fly Like a Butterfly” by Holocaust survivor Hannah Gofrit.
Our school, as the only school from the Republic of Croatia, is participating in the international NESHAMA project, which is led internationally by the Memorial de la Shoah and co-funded by the European Commission. The national coordinator is the Ministry of Science and Education, and the school coordinator is Margareta Đordić, prof.
Currently, the first phase of the project is being implemented at the school level, selecting up to 60 students to become young ambassadors for Holocaust remembrance. We remind interested first and second-year students that they must submit their motivational letters to Professor Đordić in printed form by February 10, 2025.
