Langenstein-Zwieberge Concentration Camp Memorial : Neshama preparation phase - January / June 2025

Organized as a project class, the group met every Friday for two-hour sessions. Since the students came from different educational backgrounds, their initial knowledge of National Socialism and the Holocaust varied considerably.

Therefore the first stage of the programme focused on building a common understanding of National Socialism, the Holocaust, and the history of the Langenstein-Zwieberge Concentration Camp (LZ CC), providing the historical foundation needed for the students to develop their own project ideas.

As part of this preparation, the students also took part in the annual Days of Encounter, commemorating the liberation of the camp. Although no survivors of Langenstein-Zwieberge CC are still alive, members of the second generation, children and grandchildren of former prisoners, continue to preserve the memory of the camp by sharing the stories of their fathers and grandfathers, as well as reflecting on their own experiences as descendants.
