Group Research – September 15 2025
Having finished the first stage of the programme, the project group started to work on their own projects. The group split in three: 1) improving the Wikipedia articles about Langenstein-Zwieberge, 2) researching individual biographies, 3) analyzing a transport list.
The 3rd group researched a transport of 1.000 prisoners from Buchenwald main camp which arrived at Langenstein-Zwieberge on 18 February 1945.
Among the prisoners were transported from Auschwitz, but also inmates of other camps. Unknown yet was the number of camps before.
As a result of the research, 444 prisoners persecuted as Jews and having survived Auschwitz before could be identified.
Among them was Eddie Hellmuth Willner, whose biography was presented by the 2nd group.
Eddie had fled to France before and was deported via Drancy to Auschwitz. He survived and continued to live in the US.
